Kinds of Essays
Most universities require essays to be written in a particular format. An essay is, by definition, a written piece that present the author’s argument, but this definition is somewhat obscure, often overlapping with that of a document, an essay, a paper, a publication, and even a short story. Essays are traditionally needed as part of makeup and are needed to meet specific criteria. The guidelines usually state that essays have to be up to 500 words in length and they need to focus on the primary function of the essay (the analysis of a particular area or thought ). It is also implied that essays must be written in the third person, that is, as though the writer were telling the story of the essay. Finally, it is often implied that essays are written in a fashion which is”fresh, current, and research-based.”A descriptive article, by definition, is an essay that is descriptive in character. A good descriptive article will engage the reader and also cause them to re-read the essay to understand what it’s trying to state, or to attempt rushessay to comprehend the author’s point by enlarging on what the author has introduced. A good descriptive article will give its readers to new information about a subject or issue and allow them to see new elements of the subject or issue.A fantastic example of a short piece that would fall into the category of a descriptive essay might be an overview of recent technological innovations. The writer could choose to write a review of those innovations and include some information regarding the writer. He could also decide to restrict his review to a single idea and present his arguments in this way. Or he could choose to expand on the theme of his critique and discuss lots of different technological inventions. Either way, the function of the essay would be to present the writer’s argument, ideally creating some readers understand that a new concept, or invention.Another type of article which falls into the class of essays which are descriptive is a thesis statement. The thesis statement is one, simple statement that summarizes the entire purpose of this essay. Generally the thesis of such an essay will probably be supported by some evidence or other sort of common sense. But, there are different types of essays which need no such support. For example, one could choose to write an essay which contains no conclusion at all! And another example of this could be a term essay – an article that employs words to say a specific point or theme.The descriptive essay along with the thesis statement provide the writer with a way to engage the reader. In order for such an essay to be successful, however, it must satisfy the expectations of the reader. In short, such essays must convince the reader that their specific point of view is right and the conclusion they reach is accurate. No such conclusion exists in a descriptive essay or some point of view argumentative essay! Both these types of essays rely on the ability of the author to get in touch with the reader on an emotional level.Finally, we turn to the previous type of composition – the common structural type. Unlike the previous two kinds of essays, the common structural kind relies on the ability of the author to arrange the info provided in the essay to a logical and orderly outline. An outline does not have to adhere to exactly the same format as a traditional essay, but it may be used to structure an innovative article. It can also be used to structure creative writing, just like the name of this report suggests.
